Community Farm Classroom
Community Farm Classroom is all about getting kids growing!
In this hands-on experience, students, teachers and parents will dig into all aspects of food growing at Bundoora Park - our ½ Acre Market Garden and First Nations Food Garden in Bundoora.
Depending on the season, your Community Farm Classroom experience will involve cultivating the soil using farm tools, planting seeds and seedlings, harvesting food, pruning plants, propagating cuttings, soil testing soil, nurturing plants by weeding and mulching, discussing basic farming concepts, exploring the First Nations Food Garden or planning how to grow food at home.
Students will leave with some fresh, handpicked food or a packet of seeds too.
Run by experienced, knowledgeable and very friendly community farmers, your Community Farm Classroom experience is designed to be student lead, strengths based, non-hierarchical and inclusive of all abilities. We believe that everyone’s knowledge is valuable and we work hard to create a space where young and old alike feel comfortable to participate and contribute equally.
